5K, Not In The Rain!

If you can believe it, it didn't rain. I got up this morning at 6 and it was pouring but by the time we left at 6:45 it had quit. I was thrilled. Granted, it was cold (54 when we came home at 11), but at least it wasn't cold and wet. There were lots of people in Halloween costumes which was pretty fun. One guy dressed up as Frankenstein and ran the 10K. He was hilarious and as they passed under the finish line they announced him as "Frankenstein". NICE.

Drewby and I both did pretty well. Truthfully, we each ran our races faster than we thought we would. I had been running the course in between 33 1/2 minutes and 34 minutes... My time today was 32 minutes and 10 seconds. I placed 50 out of 130 entries. I don't think that's bad for somebody who hates running and hasn't really ever ran in their life. Drew's goal was to run the 10K in 52 or 53 minutes, he finished in just short of 50. Like I said, we were both pleased!

Stu Pay & Drew getting ready to run the 10K.
Getting ready to cross the finish line.... YAY!

Drew and I right before my race.

Stu Pay's wife Sarah and I before the 5K. She won our age division out of 130 entries!

Now we are watching one of the Halloween movies on TV and I think I might take a nap before we go to our Halloween party tonight. Hope y'all have a great day!

5K in the rain??? I HOPE NOT!

Man I'm glad its Friday. This has been a pretty stressful week at work. We have a MAJOR contract that we are rebidding and I guess its my responsibility to put it together. Apparently I'm doing okay though because when my boss left this afternoon he called and asked if I had plans for Sunday (which I kind of did). He then told me that there were 4 Titans tickets down on his desk that I could have. SWEET :)

Poor Mom and Dad, they had been my Sunday plans. I did at least ask them if they wanted two of the tickets, to which they said no. Mom said it'd be TOO COLD.... Well, probably so, but they're free tickets. Also, I do realize that the Titans are 0-6, but still, they're free tickets. So now we are taking a girls trip to the football game on Sunday.

Tomorrow is mine and Drew's big race. If you'll remember, Drew is running a 10K and I am running a 5K. I really feel ready. What I don't know about is the weather. We are getting a major rain system right now and its supposed to keep raining tomorrow morning. They have decreased the rain chance from 90% to 30% but still... I'm not so sure.

After that, of course Halloween is tomorrow and Drew and I are going to a party. He is dressing up as Superman and I am going to be a cheerleader. Until I tried on the uniform Wednesday night, I had never worn a cheerleading outfit. It was pretty funny! I decided that it was a good thing I've been doing all this running so at least maybe my legs will look decent in that short skirt! HAHA! Believe me, I'll put up pictures!

Have a great night!

WAHOO!!!!! Time for celebration!!!!

Well, I'm not sure if this is an appropriate thing to blog about or not, BUT... I just paid off my car!

That's not my car, mine is blue and has a spoiler, but you get the point. Anyway, I'm super excited. No more car payment (at least till we break down and buy Drew a truck...)!
Hope you all have a great day too!

Fall Decorations as well as other things :)

Well, I am a little late in posting about our fall decorations. They are a pretty minimal anyway. I don't really have any fall decorations so really we just have pumpkins. There aren't any mums either, which is crazy. I did plant some at the back of the house, so hopefully they'll be beautiful next year, but this year they had already bloomed and weren't quite so nice.

Like I said, just some pumpkins. I do love the topiary pumpkins though and of course my little scarecrow.

Here are our carving pumpkins as well as another topiary.

The front of our house with pumpkins and my scarecrow. I think it looks festive :)

The fall is kind of a sentimental time for Drew and I regarding our house. Two years ago at this time we were in the process of completely gutting it. Our house was built in 1978 and when we bought it in 2007, everything inside was basically the same. It had horrible wood panelling, horrible wall paper, and orange shag carpets... among other things. We renovated it in one month and Drew spent his first night here on Halloween 2007. It is still a work in process but at least we aren't constantly doing things anymore. We have redone all the landscaping, repainted the whole house, including ceilings, replaced all the flooring and soon we will have replaced all the light fixtures. Total redo, but we love it!

Anyway, hope you guys have a great day and weekend. We have a wedding to go to today and need to go to Sams and the grocery store. Have a great Saturday!

THE FLU...

Well, here is the bummer of the century... Drew told me last night that his throat was hurting and he thought he'd go to bed early. He went to bed at about 9:30 and woke up this morning telling me that he really didn't feel good. At that point he took his temperature and we discovered he had a fever. I told him to go to the doctor and then got in a little spat with him when he said that he thought he'd go tough out work for a while. Luckily, I (with some help from his mother) convinced him to go to Urgentcare where they promptly diagnosed him with the flu and put him on Tamiflu. They told him that his flu test was negative but that his symptoms (body ache, soar throat, fever) were very typical of what they were seeing.

Anyway, he is now medicated and we are hoping that I don't get sick...

Keeneland...

Well, we went to Keeneland today for opening weekend of the fall meet. It was amazing. I had a huge time... I'll do more of a writeup later but here are some pictures.

Have a good weekend! I'm glad to be celebrating my favorite explorer (Columbus, of course) by staying away from work on Monday. Toodles!!!

Show Us Your Life - Tailgating & Football Teams!

Well, I thought that I would do another Kelly's Korner "Show Us Your Life" blog. This blog is all about Tailgating and Football!!! I am really not a huge football fan. Frankly, I don't understand it and usually don't know what is happening. I do however, know how to tailgate!

This actually works out really well, because I still haven't posted the pictures from our tailgating adventure a few weeks ago... So without further ado, welcome to tailgating for the Hilltoppers from Western Kentucky University!
The old side of the football stadium, we were actually in the student section. I love WKU...

Waving "Red Towels" in the student section. This is such a huge tradition.

Our tailgating friends... AKA half of Muhlenberg County!

A girls picture. The administration asked everybody to "Black Out" the campus that day. We were doing our best!
of course, there always has to be some idiot to get out of hand. In this case, somebody felt the need to take their agressions out on somebody else's windshield....

Anyway, hope you guys have a great day! We are headed to Keeneland tomorrow to watch some ponies (I am out of control excited!) so hopefully, I'll get some good pictures and blog about those next!

Fall is here!

Well, it has been a few days blogger friends. Drew and I have been a little busy this week. Mostly we have been doing a bunch of running. Crazy, I know. I'm really not a runner but we decided that we would both do the Medical Center 5K. Actually, I'm doing the 5 and Drewby is doing the 10.

We have been talking about taking a trip next spring and have decided to look into a Sandals resort. Have any of you ever been to one? I'd like to go to St Lucia... I really have no idea where St Lucia is but I still think it sounds great. We had a fabulous time on our honeymoon at the Moon Palace so I can't imagine how nice one of these resorts would be. I am really excited about this trip because it was all Drew's idea and he's the one doing all the research! I'm such a lucky girl :) We decided that we really want to go sometime when it is cold in BG. I was thinking the end of April would be a great time... Besides, that would give me a good excuse to get in pretty decent shape over the winter...
Anyway, I definitely need y'alls opinion on Sandals resorts or St Lucia...
Oh, I have to show you guys the cute little gift I bought for Scoot today! It is so cute and was my first experience with Etsy! I am a huge fan... Of course when I get it, it will have her name and my number, even though Darby is a great name for a dog!

I was on Etsy looking at Derby hats. I am definitely wanting to go to the Derby this year considering that I have never been. What Kentucky Horse Girl has never been to the Derby??? Definitely, a problem.

Oh well, I hope y'all have a great weekend!
